Employment

What you will do: Internships at Iskashitaa are tailored to fit your abilities, interests, and the needs of the sponsoring organization. Interns are needed to coordinate harvests, work in the office, manage volunteers, and facilitate interactions with the community.  You may spend time harvesting alongside refugees, troubleshooting adjustment problems, supervising new English teachers, or distributing produce while socializing with local families.

Qualifications: Interns are given significant responsibilities and expected to manage their time independently with the support of other staff.  Qualified applicants will be self-motivated, flexible, and dependable.  Interns are organized enough to deal effectively with the needs of refugees and still fulfill  their own commitments.  The intern staff is also patient, passionate, and kind.  They recognize that everyone is coming from a different place and choose to serve to help others.

Time Commitment: Internships are available depending on the requirements of the sponsoring organization or your own preferences.

Perks and Rewards:

International Relations: Working with refugees allows interns to develop an understanding of cultures and skills for dealing with language barriers.
Professional Development: Interns are encouraged to attend local informational workshops and to learn about many topics. Interns may spend time learning about sustainable agriculture, local foods, foreign languages, and more.
Stipend: Internships offer small living allowances and or educational stipends. Room, board, or relocation coasts are not covered.

Sponsoring Organizations: Since Iskashitaa is a non-profit organization, we use outside funding to sponsor our interns. Your internship may be sponsored by a local volunteer organization, Americorps, or another source. For this reason, you will be required to carefully follow the requirements of the sponsoring organization while working with Iskashitaa.

How to Apply: For information on becoming an intern, please send us an email, use the contact form, or give us a call to tell us more about yourself.
